ZE PAK SA (“the Company”), being aware of challenges posed by the energy transition process of the Eastern Wielkopolska Region (“the Region”), decided to take certain steps to be part of this process and optimally use the potential which the ZE PAK S.A. Capital Group (“the Group”) has at its disposal. The objective is to develop a concept and implement the investments which will stimulate the Group development in new business activity areas.

The company intends to participate in the preparation of initiatives aimed at the Region associated with the energy transition process. In particular, it is connected with cooperation in the scope of the Region cooperation within the framework of the Coal Regions in Transition Platform (“Coal Platform”) but also in other programmes, the aim of which is to finance projects with a specific profile. The company being aware of challenges, which the Region faces in the context of developing a strategic vision for the future development, wants to make its participation not only declarative, but also based on specific ideas and proposals of the investment projects, the nature of which allows to fit the idea of the Region energy transition.

Among the considered projects, it is worth mentioning:

1. Construction of photovoltaic farms on the Group’s reclaimed areas,

2. Adaptation of part of the coal systems for biomass combustion,

3. Construction of a heat storage for the heating needs of the City of Konin,

4. Construction of wind farms on the Group’s reclaimed areas,

5. Construction of an energy storage for the needs of RES generated on the Group’s areas,

6. Construction of a logistics centre along with the installation of photovoltaic panels on the roofs,

7. Construction of infrastructure for the generation, storage and distribution of hydrogen,

8. Assembly of the finished photovoltaic panels, manufacture of components for assembly and assembly of systems.

The above-mentioned examples of the proposed investments occur at various stages in the concept development process; however, their success may contribute to the implementation of the idea of just transition of the Eastern Wielkopolska Region, taking into account the sustainable development principles and respect for the social side. ZE PAK SA intends to inform about further important steps taken in the energy transition process of the Region.
