Elektrownia Pątnów II Sp. z o. o.
(Elektrownia Pątnów II)

Elektrownia Pątnów II is a special purpose company established to implement the most important investment project of ZE PAK SA: the construction of Power Unit A, a 464 MW brown-coal-fired unit. The unit was for the first time synchronized with the national power grid on 23 November 2007. In December 2007 a maximum output test was successively run; the power unit not only achieved the design power output of 464 MW but even exceeded it, reaching 474 MW.
The 464 MW unit of the Pątnów Power Plant is the first supercritical generating unit in the Polish national power system. It is characterized by high energy efficiency: 44.0% gross and 41.0% net.
Gross rated power on the generator terminals at a cooling water temperature of 16 ºC: 470.2 MW
Net power capacity on the 400 kV bus bars at a cooling water temperature of 16ºC: 446 MW
Annual installed capacity utilization time: 6800 hours.
Annual electricity output: 3,180 GWh
The equipment installed at the facility is based on proven state-of-the-art solutions that have passed muster at lignite-fired power stations in other countries.
Power unit availability:
Annual, taking into account running repairs: 94%
Six-year cycle, taking into account major overhauls: 91.2%
The 464 MW power unit consists of:
- a boiler with a capacity of 361 kg/s (1300 t/h),
- a condensing turbine driving a synchronous generator,
- an electrostatic precipitator,
- a flue gas desulphurization system (FGDS) using the lime/gypsum method,
- a new stack,
- a new system for the evacuation of power to the bus bars of the 400 kV switching station.
The Pątnów II power unit is a highly efficient energy generating facility, which results in lower fuel consumption and reduced quantities of process waste. It is equipped with the most up-to-date systems for the protection of the atmosphere, including a wet flue gas desulphurization system and a system for reducing nitrogen emissions. Average emissions of air pollutants:
SO2 – 200 mg/Nm3
NOx – 200 mg/Nm3
Dust – 30 mg/Nm3
