Adamów Power Plant

The Adamów power station is one of the three power plants operated by ZE PAK SA. It is located 3 km from Turek and 30 km from Konin. It is a conventional brown-coal-fired utility thermal power plant with an installed capacity of 600 MW. It was commissioned in 1964. In addition to producing electricity, the Adamów Power Plant supplies heat to a part of the town of Turek and to some industrial facilities in the area. It also provides process steam for the nearby Miranda and PROFI works. The facility has a closed cooling system composed of five cooling towers, a landmark of the Turek region landscape.

Since October 2006 the Adamów Power Plant has also been burning certain quantities of biomass in the form of sawdust. This was made possible by an expansion of the terms of the concession issued by the Energy Regulatory Office. According to the terms of the expanded concession, the maximum amount of biomass in the combustion mixture (brown coal and biomass) is 10 per cent.
